He trained in the South West of the UK and in Australia where he worked on the Sydney Air Ambulance. He holds First Class Honours in Anatomical Science, has published 18 peer review articles and six books/book chapters and is principal investigator for a number of intensive care research trials.BiographyMargi has been matron of the intensive care unit (ICU) in Bath since 2019. Her critical care experience began in 1988 in cardiac surgery, during which time she co-led the set-up of a Cardiac Surgery Unit in Trinidad in 1995. Since having her three (now grown up) boys, Margi has worked as a senior intensive care sister in Bath, North Bristol and at the Bristol Heart Institute. She has also worked as a specialist nurse in Organ Donation as part of the South West Organ Donation Team. She was part of the team who received the Pask Award in recognition of their response to a fire within an ICU in 2011.Since working together, Andy and Margi have introduced a 24/7 Outreach Team, an ICU Follow-Up Clinic and have overseen the construction of a new ICU within 42 days during the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-managing intensive care services throughout the pandemic has been their biggest leadership challenge to date, but also a great honour for them both.Between us, we have accrued 50 years of intensive care experience.
